Renovation project for the Laguna SPA Hotel on the Kamchatka Peninsula
Laguna is one of the oldest family resorts in the area, which was hugely popular with local residents during the Soviet era. Decades later, the dilapidated infrastructure made Laguna unusable. The renovation project by the FANTALIS architectural bureau has brought life back to Laguna, transforming it into a magnet for tourists and locals alike.

The predecessor of the current Laguna SPA Center, located in the village of Paratunka, was a Soviet-era resort with 52 rooms and an Aqua Center, beloved by both locals and tourists. Despite the hotel's ideal location for tourism (it's located on the route to the volcanoes), Kamchatka is still a seasonal travel destination, so tourist traffic can increase or decrease significantly depending on the month.
A core objective for the designers was to develop a versatile destination capable of drawing a consistent local crowd from Yelizovo and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky throughout the year, beyond just the tourist high season.

The hotel enjoys a prime location, offering easy access to and enjoyment of Kamchatka's main natural attractions—tourists come for this very reason, spending less time at the hotel. Nevertheless, the design takes into account the natural features of the area, and the panoramic views of the mountain lake and volcano have allowed the hotel to create its own unique attractions.
The Aqua Center
The Aqua Center located within the Laguna Spa Hotel, boasts a large outdoor pool with thermal water. This particular feature of the spa hotel is the most popular attraction among both tourists and local residents. The architects have redeveloped the Soviet-era complex—originally constructed by Icelandic engineers—transforming it into a modern, comfortable, and functional facility.

Relaunching the spa hotel required extensive work: a major renovation of the Aqua Center building and two Laguna hotels, the creation of a restaurant, a glamping area, the implementation of modern management systems, the rebranding of the project, and landscaping of the grounds.

The Aqua Centre's comprehensive upgrade has transformed the guest experience. Now, people stay longer to enjoy not just the pool, but also a new restaurant boasting a spacious terrace for 100 diners. Work on the Aqua Center is ongoing, and the final modifications and renovations will be completed this fall.
Hotel Grounds
Laguna's grounds feature designated barbecue areas with covered pavilions, where hotel guests can gather, socialize, and cook meals together. The project included landscaping the coastal area, updating navigation around the Laguna grounds, and increasing the number of parking spaces.

The Laguna SPA Hotel is part of a development project to boost tourism in the Kamchatka region and is one of the large-scale projects implemented by FANTALIS Group. In addition to the main buildings, the hotel grounds feature unique architectural guest house projects: Forest, "Glazastik" (Big-Eyes), Gray House, and "Idealny Kub" (The Perfect Cube). Each type of guest house offers a unique architectural solution, tailored to the needs of different guest groups. A distinctive feature of the Forest guest house is its window overlooking a birch grove. Situated on the outskirts of the property, these houses are popular with young people who don't mind the distance from the restaurant. Glazastik, a studio with a double bed and an extra bed, is an option for families with small children. Gray House offers two bedrooms and a living room: you can rent the entire house or each room individually, as each room has a bathroom and a balcony. The Perfect Cube, thanks to its shape and panoramic window, lets in plenty of natural light and allows for the opportunity to enjoy the natural landscape—perfect for those seeking a private escape to Kamchatka. The Cube boasts its own private area and a pier by the lake, as well as a hot tub with water from a thermal spring
Today, Laguna is one of Kamchatka's most popular resorts, distinguished by the high quality of its grounds and services. Since reopening after its renovation, the hotel has already welcomed over 122,000 visitors
Thanks to FANTALIS, the historic resort has been brought back to life, becoming profitable and economically sustainable even in the off-season: not only does the hotel attract a large number of guests for relaxation, but local residents also use the hotel's services year-round.
