Art clusters, theaters, tourist complexes—in recent years, an increasing number of cultural and entertainment spaces have emerged across Russia's regions, acting as catalysts for territorial development. At a case study session held in the Architectural Lecture Hall, architects and developers presented these "magnet projects" that are transforming the image of places and entire cities.
Kamchatka was the third region discussed during the session. Anna Kulikova, architect and partner at FANTALIS Architects, shared insights from her work on the Laguna SPA Hotel—currently the most popular hotel in Kamchatka. While working on this project, the architect considered not only tourists but also local residents: "If the local resident is happy, the visitor to the region will be satisfied too." The result was the creation of infrastructure that has influenced the development of family tourism in Kamchatka, boosted the region's popularity, increased the sophistication and expectations of local residents, and spurred qualitative improvements among competing properties.
